Governmental Affairs Committees

Vertical Codes Committee - Chair, Jason Starling, Suarez Housing.  This committee meets on the first Monday of the month at 2:00pm and was created for members to express their concerns to the county. Specific items versus conceptual policy - interpretations of codes; inspection procedures; new code requirements and building services division budget issues.  The format for this meeting is an open discussion led by the chair.

Horizontal Codes Committee - Chair, Tuyen Tran, King Engineering. This committee meets the first Monday of the month at 1:00pm and was created for members to express concerns to county. Specific items versus conceptual policy - interpretations of codes; tech manual development and always having a pulse on DRC and review turnaround time. The format for these meetings is an open discussion led by the chair.

Tampa Gov't Affairs Committee - Co-Chairs, Gary Brown, Sterling Bay Homes and Cliff Fernandez, Dolphin Homes. This committee plans and implements the TBBA's governmental relations program through aggressive lobbying and regularly scheduled meetings with elected officials within the city of Tampa. Major issues discussed are code revisions, zonings, trees, and infrastructure and meets an as needed basis.

Governmental Affairs Policy Committee - Chair, Tonja Stewart, Wilson Miller. This committee meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30am at Wilson Miller. This committee plans and implements the policy and priority issues addressed by the Association. They discuss overall land use policies, code items, state issues and comp plan changes as they affect the industry; They report directly to the board of directors and all gov't affairs related committee members are encouraged to attend this meeting to discuss issues.

Pasco County Builder/Developer Gov't Affairs Committee - Jim Deitch, Southern Crafted Homes, Builder Chair/ Ed Rogers, Heidt Designs, Developer Chair. This committee meets the third Thursday of each month at 1:30pm in the New Port Richey County Center, basement conference room. Members meet with county staff and officials to discuss development and builder issues concerning the industry.

Industry Issues Committee - Chair, Eric Isenbergh, Davison Homes.  The purpose of the Industry Issues Committee is help to address regulatory and related legal action and similar activities that adversely impact the building industry such as the Amendment 4 ballot initiative, mobility fees, comprehensive plans and impact fees as well as provides an avenue to support smarter growth initiatives such as transit and transit oriented development, form based codes and zoning and other innovative methods in which to keep the community growing in a positive way.
